Presidente Russell M. Nelson encerrou a sessão da manhã de domingo da conferência geral de outubro de 2022, suplicando que todos assumam a responsabilidade por seu testemunho de Jesus Cristo e de Seu evangelho.
“Ao fazerem do fortalecimento contínuo de seu testemunho de Jesus Cristo sua maior prioridade, observem os milagres acontecerem em sua vida”, disse o presidente da Igreja.
Porque Jesus Cristo venceu o mundo, “você também pode vencer este mundo saturado de pecado, egocêntrico e muitas vezes exaustivo.” Fazer e guardar convênios, ensinou Presidente Nelson, torna a vida mais fácil.
“Ao se unirem a Jesus Cristo e fazerem o trabalho espiritual necessário para vencer o mundo, Ele, e somente Ele, tem o poder de levantá-los acima da tentação deste mundo.”
A sessão da manhã de domingo também incluiu discursos de três membros do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, do presidente geral dos Rapazes e de uma conselheira na presidência geral da Sociedade de Socorro.

Élder Jeffrey R. Holland, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, abriu a sessão falando por que a Igreja geralmente não usa a iconografia da cruz, mas sim um símbolo da ressurreição do Salvador, e o que significa “tomar nossa cruz e segui-Lo.”
“Assim como a gloriosa ressurreição seguiu à agonizante crucificação, assim também bênçãos de todo tipo são derramadas sobre aqueles que desejam … . Essas bênçãos fluem porque Ele foi ‘levantado na cruz’ e nós somos elevados a Ele e às bênçãos eternas que Ele nos oferece”, disse ele.
O tema do discipulado de Élder Holland foi ensinado por Élder Joseph W. Sitati, um Setenta Autoridade Geral que recebeu o status de emérito nesta conferência e identificou padrões para um “discipulado duradouro e alegre.”
Presidente Steven J. Lund, presidente geral dos Rapazes, também falou sobre discipulado — discipulado duradouro — na vida dos jovens após um verão histórico das conferências Para o Vigor da Juventude [FSY].
Élder David A. Bednar, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, ensinou sobre o arbítrio moral e o fortalecimento das conexões do convênio com a parábola de Jesus sobre o casamento do filho do rei. Simbolizando o chamado de Deus e as respostas individuais, a parábola conclui: “Porque muitos são chamados, mas poucos, escolhidos” (Mateus 22:14).
“Você e eu podemos escolher ser escolhidos por meio do exercício correto de nosso arbítrio moral”, disse Élder Bednar.
Élder Gerrit W. Gong, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, testificou que a obra e a glória de Deus incluem a realização “feliz e para sempre.”
“Feliz e para sempre não significa que todo relacionamento será feliz e para sempre”, disse Élder Gong. “Mas mil milenares anos em que Satanás estará preso podem nos dar o tempo necessário e maneiras surpreendentes de amar, entender e resolver as coisas, enquanto nos preparamos para a eternidade.”
A irmã J. Anette Dennis, primeira conselheira na presidência geral da Sociedade de Socorro, falou sobre amar os outros como o Pai Celestial e Jesus Cristo amam. “Todo mundo precisa sentir que realmente pertence e é necessário no corpo de Cristo”, disse ela.
Presidente Henry B. Eyring, segundo conselheiro na Primeira Presidência, dirigiu a sessão. As orações foram feitas por Élder Weatherford T. Clayton, Setenta Autoridade Geral, e pela presidente Bonnie H. Cordon, presidente geral das Moças.
A música foi apresentada pelo Coro do Tabernáculo na Praça do Templo, dirigido por Mack Wilberg, com os organistas Richard Elliott e Brian Mathias. As seleções incluíram “With Songs of Praise” [Com Cânticos de Louvor], “Deixa a Luz do Sol Entrar”, “Da Corte Celestial”, “Trabalhemos Hoje”, e “Graças Damos, Ó Deus, por um Profeta”, cantado pelo coro e congregação.
