Presidente M. Russell Ballard, Presidente em Exercício do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, abriu a sessão da tarde de sábado da 192ª Conferência Geral Semianual, observando que este ano é o 175º aniversário da chegada dos pioneiros no Vale do Lago Salgado.
“Meus bisavós e outros pioneiros enfrentaram muitos obstáculos ao chegarem em
carroções, carrinhos de mão e caminhando até o Vale do Lago Salgado. Nós também enfrentaremos desafios em nossa jornada individual ao longo de nossa vida”, disse Presidente Ballard.
Embora as pessoas hoje não estejam empurrando carrinhos de mão ou dirigindo carroções”, estamos tentando, como eles, superar espiritualmente as tentações e desafios de nossos dias. … Embora os desafios atuais sejam diferentes dos desafios dos primeiros pioneiros, eles não são menos desafiadores para nós.”
Ele convidou: “Que possamos sempre seguir os passos de Jesus Cristo e, com fé a cada passo, focar Nele, mantendo nossos pés firmes no caminho do convênio.”

A irmã Kristin M. Yee, segunda conselheira na presidência geral da Sociedade de Socorro, se concentrou no caminho de cura do perdão, inclusive em sua própria vida.
“Para todos os que estão com o coração quebrado, cativos, feridos e talvez cegos pela mágoa ou pecado, Ele oferece cura, recuperação e libertação. Testifico que a cura e a recuperação que Ele oferece são reais”, disse ela.
Élder Paul V. Johnson, da Presidência dos Setenta, ensinou como a perfeição e a transformação do coração de uma pessoa só vêm por meio do Salvador e de Sua Expiação.
“Nosso Pai Celestial e nosso Salvador Jesus Cristo nos amam e nos oferecerem graciosamente nos mudar e nos aperfeiçoar. Eles desejam fazer isso. É o ponto central de Sua obra e glória. Testifico que Eles têm poder para fazerem isso quando nos achegamos a Eles com fé”, disse ele.
Élder Ulisses Soares, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, falou sobre a verdadeira parceria e as responsabilidades divinas de um relacionamento conjugal.
“Testifico a vocês que, conforme nós, homens e mulheres, trabalhamos juntos em uma verdadeira parceria, desfrutaremos da unidade ensinada pelo Salvador, ao cumprirmos as responsabilidades divinas em nosso relacionamento conjugal”, disse Élder Soares.
Élder James W. McConkie III, que foi apoiado como Setenta Autoridade Geral em abril, compartilhou como “estamos todos engajados como discípulos santos dos últimos dias no trabalho de levar outras pessoas a Cristo.”
Élder Jorge F. Zeballos, Setenta Autoridade Geral, usou uma analogia da engenharia civil para ensinar como construir uma vida resistente ao adversário. O plano de salvação, o evangelho restaurado e a orientação dos profetas vivos são “planos divinamente designados e as ‘especificações técnicas’ que nos ensinam claramente como construirmos uma vida feliz, uma vida resistente ao pecado, resistente à tentação, resistente aos ataques de Satanás.”
Élder D. Todd Christofferson, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, delineou três partes da doutrina do pertencimento: o papel do pertencimento na coligação do povo do convênio do Senhor, a importância do serviço e sacrifício no pertencimento e a importância de Jesus Cristo no pertencimento.
“Devemos ser diligentes em erradicar o preconceito e a discriminação da Igreja, de nosso lar e, acima de tudo, de nosso coração”, disse Élder Christofferson. “À medida que o povo da nossa Igreja se torna cada vez mais diversificado, nossas boas-vindas devem se tornar cada vez mais espontâneas e calorosas. Precisamos uns dos outros.”
A música foi apresentada por um coro missionário, que incluiu missionários de ensino e serviço dirigidos por Ryan Eggett, com os organistas Joseph Peeples e Andrew Unsworth. O coro cantou “Chamados a servir”, “Fé a Cada Passo”, “Aonde Mandares Irei” e “Juventude da Promessa”. O coro e a congregação cantaram “Glória a Deus Cantai.”
Presidente Dallin H. Oaks, primeiro conselheiro na Primeira Presidência, dirigiu a sessão da tarde de sábado, e Presidente Henry B.
