Na última mensagem da conferência geral no sábado, 5 de outubro, Élder David A. Bednar recorreu a lições do Livro de Mórmon para alertar e ensinar os santos dos últimos dias sobre como evitarem o pecado do orgulho.
“Sugiro que se vocês ou eu acreditamos que somos suficientemente fortes e firmes para evitarmos a arrogância do orgulho, então talvez já estejamos sofrendo dessa doença espiritual e mortal”, disse Élder Bednar, membro do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos.
“Testifico que, ao andarmos na mansidão do espírito do Senhor, evitaremos e venceremos o orgulho e teremos paz Nele.”
Élder Bednar foi o orador final na sessão da noite de sábado da conferência geral de outubro de 2024 de A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias.

“Nosso evangelho é de alegria e santidade na vida cotidiana. A santidade distingue as coisas para um propósito sagrado. Mas santidade convida todas as pessoas a infundirem a vida diária com o sagrado”, disse ele. “Para andarmos com o Senhor, precisamos nos tornar santos, pois Ele é santo.”

O Centro de Conferências estava quase lotado na noite de sábado pela terceira vez naquele dia, conforme observado por Élder Bednar. A sessão foi dirigida por Élder Ronald A. Rasband, membro do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos. Presidente Russell M. Nelson, Presidente da Igreja, e Presidente Jeffrey R. Holland, Presidente em Exercício do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, assistiram à sessão de casa.
As orações foram oferecidas por Élder Denelson Silva e por Élder Robert M. Daines, ambos Setentas Autoridades Gerais.
A música foi fornecida por um coro de missionários da Área Utah, dirigido por Cory Mendenhall e Chemain Evans, e acompanhado por Linda Margetts e Joseph Peeples ao órgão.
