HEBER, Utah — Diante de bandeiras coloridas em um acampamento criado para fortalecer a fé e o testemunho das Moças, a irmã Ardeth G. Kapp, ex-presidente geral das Moças, falou sobre a nova geração de A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias.

Elas são uma “força poderosa para a justiça”, disse ela, momentos antes de um novo pavilhão no Acampamento para as Moças de Heber Valley ser nomeado em homenagem à sua vida de serviço em 20 de junho.

A irmã Kapp serviu como presidente geral das Moças de 1984 a 1992, época em que o tema das Moças, o programa de Progresso Pessoal, as cores dos valores e o lema das Moças foram desenvolvidos e lançados em todo o mundo.

Com o nome do pavilhão em sua homenagem, a irmã Kapp se junta a lista de outras mulheres valorosas reconhecidas no Acampamento: Lucy Mack Smith, Ester, Abis, Eliza R. Snow, Rebeca, Marjorie Pay Hinckley, Saria e Bertha Stone Reader.

Líderes gerais e passados das mulheres, assim como moças e voluntárias do Acampamento para as Moças de Heber Valley, participaram da cerimônia, realizada em uma tarde fria e com ventania na entrada do acampamento de 3.642 hectares, localizado nas montanhas acima da cidade de Heber, Utah.

A irmã Kapp disse que todos os filhos de Deus têm uma missão especial, com desafios e oportunidades para crescer.

“Agradecemos por este acampamento que ajuda as Moças, e as [mulheres] mais velhas, a entenderem o seguinte: ‘Confia no Senhor de todo o teu coração, e não te estribes no teu próprio entendimento. Reconhece-o em todos os teus caminhos, e ele endireitará as tuas veredas’ (Provérbios 3:5-6)”, disse ela.

Élder Jeffrey R. Holland, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, dedicou o novo pavilhão, recordando de quando se mudou com sua jovem família para Bountiful, Utah, há quase cinco décadas, e ser recebido pela irmã Kapp andando de bicicleta. A irmã Patricia Holland mais tarde serviria como conselheira da irmã Kapp na presidência geral das Moças.

Élder Holland disse que o trabalho realizado sob a liderança da irmã Kapp foi fundamental para as moças santos dos últimos dias. “Nesse curto período, as jovens da Igreja assumiram uma identidade e um destino, e o significado disso sempre será atribuído à era de Ardeth Kapp.”

Ao dedicar o pavilhão, Élder Holland agradeceu ao Senhor pelo “belíssimo acampamento e pelos trabalhadores dedicados que cuidam dele”, a fim de “beneficiar as maravilhosas moças e outras pessoas que abençoam esta Igreja por serem membros fiéis.”

É apropriado, disse ele, que o nome Ardeth Greene Kapp seja o primeiro que uma jovem verá quando “chegar neste espaço dedicado, e o último que verá ao se despedir em lágrimas. Ela, cujo nome agora será associado a este pavilhão, lembrará, com um sorriso radiante, contagiante e com entusiasmo, gerações inteiras de moças que devem ser testemunhas de Deus em todos os momentos, e em todas as coisas, e em todos os lugares.”

A presidente geral das Moças, Bonnie H. Cordon, considerou apropriado nomear o pavilhão, que será um local de reunião para gerações de moças, em homenagem à irmã Kapp, que é uma mulher que se importa. “Ela se importa tanto com multidões quanto individualmente”, disse ela.

A presidente Cordon disse que apenas alguns anos atrás, depois de ser chamada como presidente geral das Moças, ela visitou a irmã Kapp. “Ela abriu a porta, se importou comigo e me deu grandes palavras de conselho. Em meu coração, nunca esquecerei que, ao sair de lá, conhecia melhor o Salvador.”
